Lisa Sette Gallery exhibits painting, sculpture, photography, and installations in downtown Phoenix. In moving the collection from Scottsdale to what could be the shortest building in Arizona, the challenge was to design a space that was visually refined, with ample wall space, controlled natural light, budget conscious, and flexible.
The gallery was an adaptive reuse intervention of a partially subgrade office building designed by mid century modernist, Al Beadle. The main exhibit space is at the core of the building, with a naturally lit installation gallery in the center, and flanked by operational program along the perimeter. The exterior envelope is veiled by a translucent fabric facade, ever changing with the movement of the sun.
