Jeff Gillway Architect is a full-service architecture and interiors practice based in Washington, DC and Brooklyn. The studio works across residential, cultural, and commercial projects, from precise interior interventions to ground-up buildings and careful transformations of existing structures.
The process emerges from a dialogue between aspiration and constraint—between what a space demands and what it can become. Rather than approaching the work with a fixed style, the studio treats each commission as a new line of inquiry. Function, context, and budget become prompts for optimistic invention; familiar materials are asked to do unfamiliar things, small details are allowed to carry surprising weight, and difficult conditions often produce the most interesting ideas. Conceptual rigor is paired with pragmatic execution, with equal interest in the organization of a building and the precise moment where two materials meet. The aim is architecture that feels purposeful, tactile, and enduring, but never entirely predictable.

Jeff is a native midwesterner, although he has spent the majority of his career splitting time between Brooklyn, NY and Washington, DC. His work is driven by narrative, informed by the people and places of a particular project. Jeff believes architecture occurs at the intersection of art and function, and his process strives to create beautiful spaces that are true to context, timeless, rich in texture, environmentally conscious, and atypical in approach. Above all, his spaces tell a story. His tactile approach to design is informed by both his design tenure at studios in Europe and New York, as well as his background as a design / build contractor.
Jeff is a registered architect, certified by NCARB, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
