Jeff Gillway is an architect based in Washington, DC. His practice is centered on the belief that architecture emerges from the dialogue between aspiration and constraint — between what a space demands and what it can become.
The studio works across cultural spaces, commercial interiors, and residential projects. Grounded in disciplined design thinking and close collaboration with clients, consultants, and builders, the work aligns conceptual rigor with pragmatic execution. Each commission is approached with careful attention to function, context, budget, and craft, resulting in spaces that are grounded, purposeful, efficient, and enduring — whether newly conceived or a transformation of an existing space.

Jeff is a native midwesterner, although he has spent the majority of his career splitting time between Brooklyn, NY and Washington, DC. His work is driven by narrative, informed by the people and places of a particular project. Jeff believes architecture occurs at the intersection of art and function, and his process strives to create beautiful spaces that are true to context, timeless, rich in texture, environmentally conscious, and atypical in approach. Above all, his spaces tell a story. His tactile approach to design is informed by both his design tenure at studios in Europe and New York, as well as his background as a design / build contractor.
Jeff is a registered architect, certified by NCARB, and a member of the American Institute of Architects. -
