  • Ellipse House is a second home for a socialite client, where entertaining events is the primary focus and private living is secondary. The building twists and pulls in response to contextual considerations of view, topography, solar orientation, and circulation.

    The form is composed of two overlapping arcs- the lower one hugs the knoll, while the upper arc peels away and points toward the goldenrod meadow and lake beyond. The intersection of the two forms creates an interstitial dialogue between the gallery function above, and the parlor below.
